Our business was born from a house full of hungry women. By 2005 our mother Jill, and her four daughters were all diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. Food shopping became mission impossible. We travelled to different stores for simple items, reading every label for gluten. The want of bread meant a two hour return trip to the closest gluten free bakery.
When a small ‘gluten free’ grocery popped up for sale in 2007, Jill jumped at the opportunity. Vanessa and Victoria came on board to help Mum grow the business from the few hundred lines it already carried. We realised how many people just like us were struggling with restrictive diets and we wanted to offer more. We focussed on sourcing products that weren’t just gluten free, but specialty food that was suitable for everyone.
Over the years we’ve watched new companies create food that was once only a dream; from the first cashew based Cheeses to gluten free Dim Sims. In 2016 Jill was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia, losing her battle in late 2017. Vanessa and Victoria made the decision to continue Jill’s legacy. We made it our mission as ‘The Original Gluten Free & Specialist Foods Store’ to provide the biggest and best range of allergy friendly food available, so you and your family never have to live without – because we lived that life too!
